The Power of Words

This is a great video about the power of words and how they effect all of us. Change how you say something and you might get better results. I need to apply this to may things I do everyday.

Restful Sunday Morning

I just watched the sunrise with my cup of joe and it's been a peaceful morning. Even Max my beagle behaved outside and didn't wake up the neighborhood with his lovely howling. He's now laying down for his after breakfast nap.  Here's a pic of him...

I've been assisting another agent this week while she is on a mini vacation with her family. Those that know me, know I love to help people. I've been running around a little busy. This morning I'm off to show two homes for a second showing. Hopefully they will choose one and their normal agent can write up an offer with them this week. Wouldn't that be nice to give the other agent that :) I gotta run to Euclid. Have a beautiful day and be thankful for all you have in your life. ~Carrie

Ahhh, Half way through the week!

Now I know what you're all thinking...two and a half more days until the weekend, right?  Well, being a real estate agent you have no weekend...lol.   Today I had my networking meeting at 7:45 it's my only  scheduled early day of the week.  I don't mind getting up early to meet with these wonderful professionals that I can rely on to refer my clients to.  I know they will take just as good of care of them as I would.

Today my lunch meeting was cancelled due to one of them not being available. So this is what I had for lunch...
I juiced two kale leaves, 3 ribs of celery, 1 granny smith apple and a half of a lemon.  So you don't think it looks good, huh? Well, it's not however I try to keep the benefits of it in mind.  Here are 7 benefits of kale... (credit going to Added by  on 2013-01-27 on Fitlife.tv)

Here are 7 benefits of kale.

1. Beta-Carotene

Beta-carotene is an antioxidant which helps to build the body’s immune system. An antioxidant helps neutralize free radicals and helps prevent molecules from oxidizing. One cup of cooked kale has about 5.8 mg of beta-carotene (Barone et. al, 2002). Beat-carotene is also important because it’s a precursor for the production of vitamin A. When we get adequate amounts of vitamin A, we have healthier skin, a stronger immune system, and it helps with vision as well.

2. Calcium

According to Organicauthority.com, kale contains more calcium per calorie than milk (90 grams per serving) and is also easier to absorb. Calcium is important in preventing osteoporosis, preventing bone loss, and helps maintain a healthy metabolism. Remember to get enough vitamin D, since it helps with the absorption of calcium.

3.  Chlorophyll

Chlorophyll is a type of pigment that provides kale it’s deep green color. There are many benefits of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll aids in gastrointestinal problems, promotes the formation of hemoglobin and red blood cells, has anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory effects, and it also helps with bad breath. Chlorophyll also aids in absorbing the odor of garlic. So many people don’t like juicing garlic because of the smell and after odor, if you wrap parsley or kale around a garlic clove and then feed it into the juicer, the chlorophyll actually absorbs the odor of the garlic. Chlorophyll is a great detoxifier as well, so add kale and other dark leafy greens to your juice.

4. Folate

Kale contains folate which is an important B vitamin. Folate also prevents certain birth defects and is important for normal brain development of unborn babies. Folate is has anticancer properties and is important in maintaining a healthy heart.

5. Isothiocyanates

Ever wonder why kale and other greens have a pungent taste? Well they contain a compound called isothiocyanate. This compound helps in preventing hormone based cancers and inhibit cancerous elements from in smoke.

6. Lutein & Zeaxanthin

These carotenoids are helpful in preventing macular degeneration. Macular degeneration is the number one cause of blindness in the elderly.

7. Vitamin K

Vitamin k is important in bone building and has anti-clotting abilities. Due to it’s anti-clotting abilities, vitamin K may interfere with certain medications, thus check with your doctor if kale is right for you!
Anyway, This is why I do it.   I hope you have a great rest of the week!!!  I'm off to get my hair done then run a buyer to see a few condos.  ~Carrie

Happy Easter!  May you have a blessed day with your family.

I'm cooking at my house today for my family since my husband told me he told his mom that we wouldn't be there for dinner.  So yesterday I went out and purchased a honey baked ham and all the extras to go with it.  I even made my kiddo's two favorite homemade desserts, apple pie and cheesecake.  Jacki my daughter will be coming over this morning and staying most of the day. Each day since she has left she has been home. I think she misses us as much as we miss her.  She comes over and works on cleaning out her room, spends time with us and mostly her brother. It's nice to have her here by her choice.  We all seem to enjoy each other more.

Enjoy your family & God Bless!  ~Carrie

Easter is tomorrow and every holiday I can't spend with my family back in Wisconsin is a difficult one for me.  Even after 10 1/2 years it's still hard to be away from the ones you love.  So, if you're spending your Easter with family please enjoy every minute of it as not all of us have this time.

I have a little running around to do today.  A few last minute items that I've been procrastinating getting for the kids.  I figured I'd need a little extra energy this morning so I decided to juice me my breakfast.  A new recipe that I've never tried.  3 carrots, 1 orange and 2 sweet potatoes.  I have to tell you, it's not the best drink I've had however I'm thinking once I get used to it, my body will start to crave the whole foods.  So here's a picture of my breakfast.  Would you try this?

Have you tried juicing?  I've found the more fresh fruits and vegetables I eat the more my body craves them. My sweet tooth diminishes and I end up eating less food throughout the day and feel better.  I just wish I didn't enjoy eating those white carbs so much!

Gotta run! Just finished up the juice. If you're so lucky to spend time with your loved ones this holiday, cherish every minute.

Happy Easter and God Bless ~ Carrie

Daughter Moving Out ~ Maybe

This is a bit hard for me right now...

Yesterday my 22 year old daughter said that she was moving out. This was after we found inconsistencies in a story she was telling us after not coming home Saturday night without a call or text.  I tried texting her and after about an hour without a response I tried calling her phone and it went right to voicemail.  So I posted on facebook to a friend she was with the night before if they knew where she was.  Shortly after that I received a phone call from her from her phone.

This behavior is not unusual for her.  We have had these same issues with her a number of times however the last time this happened.  Before this time we had talked to her about respecting our home and our rules if she wanted to live here.  She didn't agree with us and that was fine as long as she did what she was asked to do.  Really not much at all...Take care of her cat, bathroom, bedroom, put dishes away and be home by 1:00 am or let us know that where she was and that she wasn't coming home that night.  Well, apparently that was too much for her.

When we asked where she was and her story wasn't adding up.  We told her that this behavior was not allowed in our home any longer.  She then stated that she was moving out.  We asked her to have her things out by 8pm.  When we returned home at 9pm Sunday she had been to the house and removed a few of her belongings.  This morning my husband called her and she was on her way home to get her work shoes.  Upon coming home and getting her shoes she then started up the stairs to her bedroom where I asked if she had a safe place to stay.  She barked back at me, "I don't even have a F***ing shower."  She grabbed a few things from her bedroom and left.

I'm really struggling with this as I only want what is best for her and I think she needs to be on her own and figure her life out. I feel we have given her plenty of time and space to do this under our roof, now it's time for her to move on.  Now I have a feeling she will be coming back to us asking to stay here again.  As this has happened before. I'm just really tired of all the peaks and valley's of her emotional roller coaster however a part of me feels responsible.  I'll text her later today just letting her know that I love her.

If you have a minute, please say a prayer for her...Thank you!

Juicing for Health & My Life

Today I'm sitting here about 35 pounds over my maximum ideal weight.  Thinking of ways to best help myself back to health.  I have a Y membership that I've had since moving to Ohio nearly 11 years ago and have never used.  I know I need to start with the foods that I'm putting in my body.  I will be hitting the grocery store later today and I'm planning on buying many vegetables to juice and start there.  I think if I can replace a meal or two each day with some fresh vegetable/fruit juices I believe I will start to feel better.  I juice occasionally now and when I do I feel better and my body starts to crave the fresh whole veggies & fruits within a few days.  Let's see how this goes.

Off to work.  I have a contract to write and it's the smallest sale of my real  estate career so far.  $3,000 for a home.   It's kind of funny since a week or so ago I write my largest offer thus far.  I guess they will balance out my average sale for the year :-)

Make it a great day and choose everything in life carefully as you will live with those decisions.
